How to set up my own computer network?
Q. I have 3 computers at home, all PCs. What is the best and most cost efficient way to connect them to make a computer network? I would like to share data and information between the computers. What equipment such as server, hub will I need to buy?

A. I would go with what Oscar said, except one minor change;
use a router, not a switch
yes a switch is cheaper, but a router is more secure
with a router, your whole system will have 1 IP on the internet, and a switch each computer will have an IP on the internet. With three computers, you shouldn't have much performance issue with this, and it has some level of security built in.
Also, are the computers in the same room? if not, are you prepaired to have cat 5 wire run through the walls?
